Certification Summary: For junior-level project managers. These individuals generally use project management tools to support projects under the management of senior level project managers, or PMPs.
Initial requirements: You must possess a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 1,500 hours of project management experience. Candidates who do not have the experience must havd 23 hours of formal project management education. You must pass the three-hour CAPM exam consisting of 150 multiple choice q uestions. Certification fees are $300 for non PMI members and $225 for members. Individual PMI membership costs $129.
Continuing requirements:
After 5 years you must either apply for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or retake the CAPM exam and pay the renewal fee ($200 nonmembers).
