Certification Summary:
For individuals who have at least one year of networking experience and are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. CCNPs plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions.
Initial requirements:
You must hold a valid CCNA or any CCIE designation.
Beginning August 1, 2010, you must pass three exams: ROUTE(Available March10, 2010), SWITCH (Available March 10, 2010), and EITHER TSHOOT BETA (available April 30, 2010) OR TSHOOT (Available April 30, 2010). Exams are 2 hours each.
Until the new requirements take effect, you must pass four exams: Building Scalable Cisco Interetworks (BSCI); Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN); Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks (ISCW); and Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks (ONT). Exams are $150 each. The last day to complete testing is July 31, 2010.
You can elect to take the composite exam ($300) in place of the BSCI and BCMSN exams, shortening the path to certification by one exam. The last day to complete testing is July 31, 2010.
Continuing requirements:
Certification is valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the professional level curriculum or any CCIE/CCDE written exam before the certification expiration date.
