Certification Summary: Entry level designation for individuals who are or will be responsible for managing and protecting important information systems and networks.
Initial requirements: You must pass 2 online exams each of which contains 100 multiple choice questions and has a 3 hour time limit. If you wish to move up to the gold level of this certification, you will also have to submit a practical assignment (a research paper). You can take these exams without taking the courses in which case they are $900 each. If you buy the training, the exams are $500 each. If you do not take the associated courses, it is not clear if you will have access to exam objectives before taking the tests.
Continuing requirements:
Must renew every 4 years by taking a refresher exam ($225). To recertify, you must pass the same exams as current certification students based on the current SANS course books.
