Certification Summary: For individuals who wish to distinguish themselves as an expert in Windows development, Web application development, or enterprise applications development. Each MCPD designation requires that you first earn the associated MCTS certification.
Initial requirements: There are three MCPD certifications, requiring a single exam ($125). Choices include:
Professional Developer: Web Developer (1 exam plus 2 MCTS exams)
You must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications credential (two exams). Then you must pass Exam 70–547: PRO: Designing and Developing Web Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Professional Developer: Windows Developer (1 exam plus 2 MCTS exams)
MCPD: Windows Developer candidates must first complete the requirements for the MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Windows Applications certification (two exams). Then you must pass Exam 70–548: PRO: Designing and Developing Windows Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Professional Developer: Enterprise Applications Developer (1 exam plus 4 MCTS exams)
MCPD: Enterprise Applications Developer candidates must first meet the requirements for the following three Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) credentials for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. You must then pas one additional exam: Exam 70–549: PRO: Designing and Developing Enterprise Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework. Exams cost $125.
Continuing requirements:
Recertification is required every 3 years.
