Certification Summary:
For individuals who design and install wireless systems that don't require a license from the FCC. For the purposes of computer work, you'll want to choose the endorsement titled Information Systems. This endorsement includes WLANs, WAN Point to Point systems, Home RF and Bluetooth devices, UNIII based systems, and Hyperlan 1 and Hyperlan II based systems.
Initial requirements:
You must show at least nine years of education and work experience as an electronics technician, three years of which must be related to installing, troubleshooting, and repair of unlicensed wireless systems. For the Information Technology endorsement, you must also show at least 1 year of related experience. You can substitute college study, teaching, or U.S. military school for some of the experience requirement. You also must pass the NARTE Wireless Installer Engineer exam, and submit a fee
Continuing requirements:
Must pay annual renewal fee ($49) and complete a renewal form documenting your continued professional participation in the field.
