Certification Summary:
For technicians who set up new Red Hat Linux systems and attach them to networks. RHCT is the first step in establishing Linux credentials and is an ideal certification for those transitioning from non-UNIX/Linux environments.
Initial requirements:
You must pass a 2 hour hands-on lab exam ($399) administered at Red Hat facilities. A passing score of 70% is required. Training is available but not required.
Continuing requirements:
RHCT certification is considered current until after one major released of the Enterprise product i.e. if you have RHCT on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 that it will be valid until the release of Red Hat Enterprise 5. To re-certify for a new release an individual needs to pass the RHCT Certification Lab Exam for the new release. Most individuals who use newer versions of Red Hat professionally will find their skills remain up-to-date.
