Certification Summary:
For individuals who architect and design Java 2 Enterprise Edition compliant applications which are scalable, flexible, and secure.

Initial requirements: certification training requirement

Must pass a multiple choice exam($200), complete an assignment ($250), and then pass an essay exam ($200). The first exam, Sun Certified Architect for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 5 (CX-310-052), contains 64 questions and lasts up to 120 minutes. Passing score is 57%. The assignment is an architecture and design project for a small business system downloaded from Sun, takes typically 80 hrs to complete, and a score of 71% is required to pass (CX-310-301A). The third, essay exam, is 310-062. It consists of 8 essay questions which you have up to 90 minutes to complete.

The assignment and exam vouchers must purchased from Sun. The programming assignment is downloaded from Sun. The exams are through Prometric. See the vendor's Web page for current phone #s.
