Two New Security Certifications from Cisco
Cisco has added two new security focused certifications to its line of Specialist designations which can be obtained by individuals who already hold the CCNA designation. The Cisco Network Admission Control Specialist is for individuals who install, configure, and operate the Cisco NAC Appliance, while the Cisco IOS Security Specialist covers the use of Cisco IOS security such as IOS Network Foundation Protections (NFP), IOS One-Step Lockdown, IOS Classic and Zone-Based Firewalls, IOS IPSec and SSL VPNs and IOS IPS. Each of these certifications has two required exams, including Securing Cisco Network Devices, which they have in common.

COBIT e-learning is available

In other Cisco news, the Cisco Advanced Security Field Specialist will be retired July 30, 2007, and the CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) certification has been modified to include updated versions of most of the current exams as well as two additional elective options covering Cisco NAC Appliance and Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis and Response System. Complete, current CCSSP requirements can be found on Cisco's CCSP page.

Microsoft to Retire 22 Exams Next March
Microsoft has published an extensive list of exams it plans to retire on March 31, 2008. Included on the list are a host of Windows 2000 exams, including those used to upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 certification, along with some rather old Windows NT 4.0 exams, Exchange Server 2000 exams, and a selection of exams covering various "2000" version products. You can view the full list at on Microsoft's website.

Adobe, Certiport Team Up on New Adobe certification
Certiport and Adobe have announced plans to develop a new level of Adobe certification called the Certified Adobe Associate. This designation will be an entry level certification that can be taken for individual Adobe applications. Details are still sketchy at this point, but current plans call for this program to launch later this spring. For a description of current Adobe certification options, visit GoCertify's Adobe page.
