New Novell Administrator for Enterprise Services Certification
Novell has announced the release of a Novell Certified Administrator Enterprise Services (NCA ES) designation. This certification adds administration skills such as file and print, user management, and network infrastructure to the existing NCA designation. Current NCAs can continue on the path to the NCE without switching to the NCA ES track. The NCA ES exam will become available September 1, 2008, and the current NCA exam will retire the day before. Apple Offers iLife and iWork Certifications
Apple has recently added associate level certifications covering its iLife digital authoring tools suite and iWork productivity tool suite. Each of these requires passing a single associated exam. Testing is through Prometric. Apple has posted a list of the suggested training paths on its Web site.
Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) Update in the Works
Planet3Wireless has announced that the current CWNA exam, PWO-100, will be updated on November 3, 2008, and released as exam PW0-104. There are quite a few changes in the new exam, particularly in the networking implementation and security sections. A full exam blueprint and list of affected objectives is available online (PDF).
Oracle Application Exam Beta Deadlines Extended
Oracle has pushed back the deadline to take its Oracle E Business Suite R12 beta exams to December 1, 2008. The Oracle Database Administration 11g: Administration II beta exam has also been extended to December 1. The Oracle Database 11g Advanced PL/SQL beta exam will remain open until October 31, 2008. Pearson VUE to Add Palm Print Recognition Security
In the latest development in the war on cheaters, Pearson VUE has announced that it will soon begin implementing technology that will scan an individual's palm using an invisible light source and then store the unique palm vein pattern in a database. Rather than working with the skin surface as finger prints do, this technology creates a template of an individual's unique palm vein pattern, which can then be compared with others in the database to detect potential fraudulent test takers. The new technology will be piloted in select Pearson VUE test centers before it goes network wide. What's next, DNA samples?
