Microsoft .NET4 and Visual Studio 2010 Betas Coming Soon
Microsoft has announced via its TechNet blog that the beta exams for .NET4 and Visual Studio 2010 will be coming soon, they'll be free, and they won't be invitation only as Microsoft betas have been in the past. According to the posting, "If you use .NET 2.0, 3.5, or 4, and Visual Studio to create software applications using the technologies included in the .NET framework, you are eligible." The main beta period is scheduled from March 31 April 20, 2010, although one exam will be offered a bit later. You can read the full announcement on the TechNet beta exam blog.

LPIC-1 = CLA
Under a new agreement between the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) and Novell, individuals who earn LPI Level 1 (LPIC-1) certification are considered to have also met the requirements for Novell's Certified Linux Administrator (CLA) designation. For information on how to go from LPIC to CLA, visit the LPI website.

CompTIA Pending Exam Releases
The latest word from CompTIA is that the updated version of the Project+ certification exam is now expected in late February or early March. The updated Linux+ exam is slated for a late March release.

Solaris 9 OS Exams Retired
As planned, all Solaris 9 OS exams have now retired. Certification is currently available on Solaris 10.

Citrix Pushes Back MetaFrame XP and Access Suite 3.0 Expiration
Citrix has moved the planned expiration date for CCEA and CCIA for MetaFrame XP Presentation Server and CCEA for MetaFrame Access Suite 3.0 from June 30, 2010, to December 31, 2010, due to changes in the release schedule of its new virtualization certifications.
