DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (Mar. 10, 2021) — Student members of CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the information technology industry and workforce, can test their cybersecurity skills in a nationwide competition that kicks off this month.
CompTIA has partnered with the National Cyber League (NCL) powered by Cyber Skyline, to give its student members the opportunity to compete in virtual cyber competitions where they can take on cybersecurity challenges that they will likely face in the workforce.
"From identifying hackers from forensic data and penetration testing to auditing vulnerable websites and recovering from ransomware attacks, these challenges mirror the critical tasks that cyber pros face every day," said Dr. James Stanger, CompTIA's chief technology evangelist. "These competitions are a great way for aspiring cybersecurity professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills."
The competition is part of the NCL's Spring Season, which includes individual games March 26-28 and team games April 9-11. The games are open to U.S. high school and college students.
To get ready for the spring season, players have access to a 24/7 "gym" for practice challenges and guides to sharpen their skills so they are ready to complete.
Players will receive individualized, comprehensive feedback on their performance in the competition, identifying their personal strengths and areas where they can build their skills.
Following the end of each competition, ranked players who participated in the Preseason and Individual Game will receive a Certificate of Participation and a Scouting Report, which contains a breakdown of their skillsets. This assessment can be shared with potential employers when students are ready to enter the workforce or start an internship.
CompTIA student members who participate in the cybersecurity challenges will be eligible to earn prizes, including CompTIA certification exam vouchers and learning materials.
Registration for the CompTIA Cybersecurity Competition is open. Visit https://certs.comptia.org/comptia-student-cybersecurity-competition to register and for more information.
